Alain Bousquet-Mélou (DVM, PhD, ECVPT diplomate) is professor of pharmacology at the Veterinary School of Toulouse, France (ENVT) and the head of the Joint research unit “Innovations, Therapeutics, and Resistances” (INTHERES). Trained as a veterinarian and graduated in 1988, he received his PhD in 1995 from the University Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France. He has 25-years’ experience in research in pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and modelling applied to veterinary drugs, particularly antibiotics. Expert for ANSES (French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety), he served as member of the French Veterinary Drugs Authorization Comity (2011-2015), and chairman of the French working group on the re-evaluation of veterinary antibiotics dosage regimens (2014-2016). He is involved in multidisciplinary projects, at the French or European level, in the field of therapeutic innovations to combat bacterial infections and antimicrobial resistance.
